Hello, friends. I'm sharing the second set of the Shepherd scripture verses below. (You can find the first set here.)
I also wanted to share something I read earlier. Ann Voskamp shared
an encouragement for mothers
on her blog today that ties in so beautifully with what it means to know God as our Shepherd. She writes:
"Parent or child, we are no different, we are all wandering sheep, easily lured, who all need the rescue of the Shepherd from the lostness of lesser loves into the embrace of the greatest Love, Love Himself. When a mother stops seeing herself as the shepherd who needs to be good enough to get her child safely Home, but instead sees her and her child both in need of a Good Shepherd, this is how she always stays safe in the home of God."
Whether you are experiencing Mother's Day this weekend as a mom or as a grandmother, or simply as a daughter, we can trust that we and all those we love are all in the care of our Shepherd. God protects us and guides us. He cares for us and carries us. He knows us and loves us and seeks us when we go astray and helps us shepherd and care for those around us. God our Shepherd is so, so good. I'll be sharing more of what I have been noticing as I've been paying attention to God as my Shepherd in the video reflection next weekend. I hope you'll watch and reflect with me.

Psalm 116:7 CSB
7 Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.
1 Peter 2:25 NET
25 For you were going astray like sheep but now you have turned back to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.
Isaiah 53:6 NLT
All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.
John 14:6-7 NIV
6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
7 If you know me, you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
John 10:7, 11, 14-15, 27 CSB
7 Jesus said again, “Truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.
11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
14 “I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and my own know me,
15 just as the Father knows me, and I know the Father. I lay down my life for the sheep.
27 My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me.
Matt 6: 25-34 NET
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t there more to life than food and more to the body than clothing? 26 Look at the birds in the sky: They do not sow, or reap, or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you more valuable than they are? 27 And which of you by worrying can add even one hour to his life? 28 Why do you worry about clothing? Think about how the flowers of the field grow; they do not work or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these! 30 And if this is how God clothes the wild grass, which is here today and tomorrow is tossed into the fire to heat the oven, won’t he clothe you even more, you people of little faith? 31 So then, don’t worry saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ 32 For the unconverted pursue these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But above all pursue his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 So then, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.
Matt 28:20b NLT
20 ... And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Hebrews 13:5b-6a, 20-21 NET
5 … “I will never leave you and I will never abandon you.”
6 So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid…"
20 Now may the God of peace who by the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus,
21 equip you with every good thing to do his will, working in us what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
Psalm 28:7-9 CSB
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart celebrates, and I give thanks to him with my song.
8 The Lord is the strength of his people; he is a stronghold of salvation for his anointed.
9 Save your people, bless your possession, shepherd them, and carry them forever.
7 Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.
